I LOVE fenugreek for its maple smell! And when you eat it regularly you start smelling like maple too! Fenugreek is good for many health conditions, for instance:

Garlic is good for so many things for instance: arthritis, asthma, bad circulation, colds & flu, liver disease, infections… and more!
I love garlic and use it in cooking regularly. HOWEVER< I also use garlic medicinally very often, if not daily. I love how it is good for your heart so I take this one.

- Kills intestinal worms and plasmodium that cause malaria.
- Good for parasite infections.
Ginger (roots) – Zones 9-12

*Warning: However, don’t take too much ginger at once, because it can cause stomach problems when overdone.

This is an important one to have around in my opinion.
- Goldenseal acts like a natural antibiotic. It is also anti-inflammatory and antibacterial.
- Goldenseal increases insulin’s effectiveness and strengthens your immune system.
- It also promotes bodily functions of the colon, liver pancreas, spleen, lymph, and respiratory systems.
- Goldenseal also cleanses mucous membranes, counteracts infections, and helps digestion.
- This little herb does so much!
- In addition, Goldenseal also reduces uterine bleeding, lowers blood pressure, and it also stimulates your central nervous system!
Gotu Kola (nuts seeds & roots) – Hardy Zones 9b and up.
Medicinal Uses:
- Helps the body to eliminate excess fluids.
- Improves depression and fatigue.
- May increase sex drive and stimulate the central nervous system.
- In addition, Gotu Kola is good for the heart, cardiovascular system, and liver function.
- Hardy zones 9b and above.
Gravel Root (flowers & roots) – Hardy Zones 4-8
- This herbs is also called Jow-Pye Weed, and Queen of the Meadow.
- It’s a diuretic and urinary tract tonic.
- Helps reduce fluid retention.
Hops (berries, flowers & leaves) – Hardy Zones 5-9
This herb is widely used to make beer, but It is a powerful herbal tea too.
- Hops are a relaxant and a beautiful addition to an herb garden.
- Hops reduce anxiety and stress.
- In addition, Hops are good for insomnia, restlessness, and shock!
Horehound (flowers & leaves) – Zones 3-10
This herb is a member of the mint family, and has big benefits for instance:

Horsetail (stems) – Hardy Zones 3-11
Horsetail grows just about everywhere and is super winter hardy!
It’s also called bottle brush and shave-grass, and is an excellent herb to include in your garden and diet!
- Horsetail helps increase your calcium absorption thus promoting healthy skin, hair, nails, teeth, and bones!
- Similarly, it helps heal broken bones and connective tissues too!
- This herb also strengthens your heart and lungs and is a mild diuretic.
- In addition, horsetail heals cuts and burns by using horsetail in a poultice!
Hydrangea! (roots only) – Zones 4-9
These aren’t just for beautiful flowers…
- Hydrangea roots act as a diuretic and stimulate the kidneys!
- Good for bladder infections, kidney disease, obesity and prostate disorders.
- Combine with gravel root for kidney stones!
*CAUTION – DO NOT eat the leaves or flowers… They contain cyanide – toxic!)
Hyssop (aerial parts) – Zones 3-11
- Hyssop dispels GAS!!!
- In addition, Hyssop also eases congestion and helps regulate blood pressure.
- Good for healing wounds externally by making a poultice with the fresh green herb.
Irish Moss (whole plant) -Zones 4-10
- Irish moss is a good aid for stool formation and is good for intestinal problems.
- Used in lotions and hair rinses for moisture.
Juniper (berries) – Zones 3-9
Juniper berries smell good, but that’s not all they are good for…
- They’re a diuretic and they help regulate blood sugar levels.
- Juniper Berries also help relieve congestion and inflammation.
- Used to treat asthma, bladder infections and fluid retention.
- In addition, taken internally they can inhibit the absorption of iron and other minerals.
Kava Kava (roots) – Zones 11-12
- This is a strong relaxant and induces physical and mental relaxation.
- Kava Kava has a diuretic effect.
- Helpful for many conditions for instance: anxiety, depression, insomnia, and urinary tract infections.

Licorice (roots) – Zones 9-11
- Licorice is more than just good tasting!

***However, Licorice shouldn’t be used medicinally during pregnancy. It should not be used by those with: diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure or in people who have a history of stroke.
***In addition, Licorice should not be used for more than 7 days in a row because it can cause high blood pressure with prolonged use.
Lobelia (flowers, leaves & seeds) – Zones 2-10

***Use with caution, because using more than 50mg of lobelia can suppress breathing, depress blood pressure and may lead to coma.
