Quick Tips for Best Results

This salad is all about freshness—here’s how to keep it tasting (and looking) its best:

  • Dry your berries: Extra water waters down the flavor and dressing. Pat dry after washing.
  • Add dressing right before serving: Mixing it too early softens the berries. If making ahead, store the fruit separately and toss with dressing just before serving.
  • Gently stir: Use a soft spatula or spoon to fold in the dressing so you don’t squish the fruit.

Serving with brunch? Pair it with a batch of Sourdough Pancakes or Sweet Cream Waffles for a bright and beautiful spread.

Can I Use Frozen Berries?

For smoothies, absolutely. For fresh fruit salad? Not so much. Once thawed, frozen berries turn soft and release a lot of juice, which can make your salad watery and mushy.

Make It Your Own – Variations to Try

This salad is super flexible. Here are a few fun twists:

  • Citrus Twist: Add segmented mandarin oranges or blood oranges for extra color and zing.
  • Tropical Vibes: Mix in fresh mango, pineapple, or kiwi.
  • Creamy Version: Add a spoonful of vanilla Greek yogurt to the dressing for a more traditional creamy fruit salad.
  • Nutty Crunch: Top with toasted coconut flakes or chopped almonds just before serving.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds washed and sliced strawberries
  • 1-2 pounds Blueberries
  • 1/8 cup Barleans Orange Cream Omega Oil
  • A squeeze of lemon or lime juice
  • 1-2 pounds blackberries or raspberries, sliced peaches, nectarines or pomegranate kernels
  • 1 tbsp poppy seeds optional, for garnish and texture

Instructions

  • Wash and slice berries (or other fruit) and place in bowl.
  • Squeeze the juice of lime over top.
  • Drizzle Orange Cream Oil On top.
  • Sprinkle Poppy Seeds If Using
  • Mix gently and serve!

Notes

  1. Let berries dry before adding them to your salad, so they don't add excess water to your bowel.
  2. Do not add dressing till right before you serve! The longer fruit sits in the dressing, the softer it gets… And no one like mushy fruit 😉 If you are making it ahead, just place prepped berries in a covered bowl and add dressing right before serving!
  3. Stir in dressing gently so you don't squish berries.
