Quick Tips for Best Results
This salad is all about freshness—here’s how to keep it tasting (and looking) its best:
- Dry your berries: Extra water waters down the flavor and dressing. Pat dry after washing.
- Add dressing right before serving: Mixing it too early softens the berries. If making ahead, store the fruit separately and toss with dressing just before serving.
- Gently stir: Use a soft spatula or spoon to fold in the dressing so you don’t squish the fruit.
Serving with brunch? Pair it with a batch of Sourdough Pancakes or Sweet Cream Waffles for a bright and beautiful spread.
Can I Use Frozen Berries?
For smoothies, absolutely. For fresh fruit salad? Not so much. Once thawed, frozen berries turn soft and release a lot of juice, which can make your salad watery and mushy.
Make It Your Own – Variations to Try
This salad is super flexible. Here are a few fun twists:
- Citrus Twist: Add segmented mandarin oranges or blood oranges for extra color and zing.
- Tropical Vibes: Mix in fresh mango, pineapple, or kiwi.
- Creamy Version: Add a spoonful of vanilla Greek yogurt to the dressing for a more traditional creamy fruit salad.
- Nutty Crunch: Top with toasted coconut flakes or chopped almonds just before serving.

Barleans Orange Cream Fruit Salad
Ingredients
- 2 pounds washed and sliced strawberries
- 1-2 pounds Blueberries
- 1/8 cup Barleans Orange Cream Omega Oil
- A squeeze of lemon or lime juice
- 1-2 pounds blackberries or raspberries, sliced peaches, nectarines or pomegranate kernels
- 1 tbsp poppy seeds optional, for garnish and texture
Instructions
- Wash and slice berries (or other fruit) and place in bowl.
- Squeeze the juice of lime over top.
- Drizzle Orange Cream Oil On top.
- Sprinkle Poppy Seeds If Using
- Mix gently and serve!
Notes
- Let berries dry before adding them to your salad, so they don't add excess water to your bowel.
- Do not add dressing till right before you serve! The longer fruit sits in the dressing, the softer it gets… And no one like mushy fruit 😉 If you are making it ahead, just place prepped berries in a covered bowl and add dressing right before serving!
- Stir in dressing gently so you don't squish berries.
