Notes
Monitor your oven temperature closely. Overbaking can dry out the cobbler.
If you are using frozen huckleberries, add about 10 minutes to your baking time.
Sweetness Balance: Huckleberries can vary in sweetness. Taste them before adding sugar. If they're tart, consider increasing the sugar by ¼ to ½ cup. If they're sweet, you might reduce it slightly.
Flavor Boost: A squeeze of lemon juice can brighten the berry flavor!
Don't Overmix: Overmixing the batter can result in a tough cobbler. Mix just until combined.
Serving Suggestions:
- Ice Cream Pairings: Vanilla bean ice cream is classic, but consider other flavors like salted caramel or lavender.
- Whipped Cream: Homemade whipped cream with a touch of vanilla extract is a delightful topping.
- Fresh Berries: Serve with a dollop of fresh whipped cream and a sprinkle of fresh berries for a beautiful presentation.
