It’s blackberry season here in Idaho… And I have the best blackberry crisp recipe that’s super fast and easy… It only takes about 10 minutes to through together and is best served hot with vanilla ice cream!
4 Simple Tools You Will Need
1 Cup measuring Cup.
KitchenAid mixer, or hand mixer.
7×11 or 9×13 baking dish.
Serving spoon.
How To Make Blackberry Crisp Recipe
First gather your blackberries… You can use fresh or frozen for this recipe, but if you are using frozen blackberries, you’ll need to add fifteen minutes to the baking. You will need 8-10 cups of berries to fill the 13 by 9 inch pan.
Second, preheat your oven to 350 degrees, and move the rack to the center of the oven.
If you are using fresh berries, like me, make sure to give them a good rinse in cool water to clean off any dirt.
After rinsing put berries in a large bowl and add 2 tablespoons of all purpose flour (*optional 2 tablespoons sugar too). Gently stir the berries in the the flour to DUST berries… This flour mixes with berries juice while baking to thicken it.
Next, Pour dusted berries into a 7×11 or 13×9 baking dish.
Make The Crisp
This is the easiest crisp recipe… And it’s super simple to remember! All you need to remember is 1 cup and 4 ingredients! Add ingredients to your blender bowl, and add the whisk attachment. Whisk the butter into the dry ingredients for about 2 minutes, or till butter breaks down and forms crumbles with dry ingredients.
I Cup Of Each:
- cubed cold butter
- flour
- quick oats
- sugar
*optional: add a dash of salt and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon.
Spread Crisp Topping On Berries
Once crisp topping has developed into crumbles, spread it evenly on top of dusted berries in baking dish. Make sure to get crisp all the way to the edges of the baking dish.
Place blackberry crisp into your preheated 350 degree oven, and bake for 1 full hour or until it’s browned on top and berries are bubbling through topping on sides…. As pictured below.
How To Serve Blackberry Crisp Recipe
Blackberry crisp is BEST served hot with vanilla ice cream on top! But it’s also YUMMY cool and cold. I also love having leftover blackberry crisp for breakfast the net day! However you decide to serve it, it is so good!
Tips
I do not add sugar to berries when dusting, I only use flour… But my blackberry crisp is TART. Serving tart blackberry crisp is always best with vanilla ice cream to add sweetness. If you want it a little sweeter, add 2 tablespoons of sugar to berries when dusting with flour!
