This oven baked glazed salmon is sweet, spicy and so delicious… You’ll want to make it again next week. It’s a quick and easy meal that’s packed with flavor and ready in just 30 minutes!
Salmon is a fantastic dish that’s quick to prepare and delicious, but this sweet and spicy glaze is almost like candy and takes your salmon filets to a whole other level of delicious!
In this recipe I’m using simple ingredients like: maple syrup, soy sauce, sesame oil and ginger to create a delicious glaze. Then slathering it all over 4 THAWED salmon filets, and baking them to perfection.
I garnish these beauties with cracked pepper, course salt, and chopped parsley… It’s a feast for the eyes, tastes, and tummy!
This salmon is delicious on it’s own… But makes a great meal with sliced veggies, roasted asparagus, creamy scalloped potatoes, and rolls or rice!
Baked Glazed Salmon Ingredients
Some of these ingredients may be foreign to you, but they’re all staples that are easy to keep on hand and last a long time… Even fresh ginger stays good in the fridge for 3 weeks!
- 4 THAWED salmon filets, patted dry with a paper towel.
- 1/2 cup real maple syrup
- 1/4 cup soy sauce, or liquid aminos
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon grated ginger root (or use 1 teaspoon ground ginger powder)
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- *Optional Garnishes: chopped parsley!, cracked black pepper, and course ground salt.
How to Make Baked Glazed Salmon
You are going to be shocked at how easy it is to make amazingly delicious salmon!
First thaw out your salmon filets, if they’re frozen.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees F. And move the oven rack to the center position.
Pat salmon filets dry on all sides with a paper towel… Then place them on a parchment lined baking sheet about 1-2 inches apart. Set aside.
In a small sauce pan combine the: real maple syrup, soy sauce, sesame oil, grated ginger, garlic powder, salt and pepper. And whisk these ingredients till well combined.
Heat the sauce pan over low heat and bring to a simmer… Then, after it comes to a simmer, set your timer for 10 minutes. Simmer on low for 10-12 minutes, whisking every couple minutes to prevent scorching, till it thickens…. Don’t over-do it here… You’re basically making a candy out of the maple syrup. If it thickens too much you wont be able to spread it over your salmon filets;)
Remove the glaze from the heat.
Use a pastry brush to spread the glaze evenly over all salmon filets on the baking sheet.
Bake in the preheated oven at 400 degrees F for 12-15 minutes till the internal temperature of the salmon filets reach 150 degrees F. For thicker salmon fillets, increase the baking time by a few minutes to ensure they are cooked through.
Remove salmon filets from the oven, and garnish if you like! To garnish, sprinkle tops with a little fresh cracked black pepper, course ground salt, and fresh chopped parsley!
Serve warm with rolls, or rice, and sliced veggies!
Storing & Using Leftovers
If you’re lucky enough to have any leftovers… They’re so good in fish tacos, and half the work is already done!
Baked salmon can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Place the salmon in an airtight container or wrap it tightly in plastic wrap.
How to reheat baked glazed salmon
In the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the leftover salmon on a baking sheet. Bake for about 10 minutes, or until heated through.
In the microwave
Place the leftover salmon on a microwave-safe plate. Cover with a damp paper towel. Heat on high for 1-2 minutes, until heated through.
Be careful not to overcook salmon when reheating it, because it can become dry. For best results, reheat your salmon gently and serve it immediately;)
