Pear Crips Recipe

This pear crisp is one of those Autumn recipes that are crisp and tangy sweet, just like fall… A must bake every year!

Made with fresh pears, rolled oats, brown sugar, flour and butter… This easy recipe may be simple but it’s one of the best pear desserts!

Pear Crisp is the perfect dessert for Thanksgiving dinner, a sweet treat on a busy weeknight, or a tasty Sunday brunch with a side of eggs!

simple pear crisp ingredients pears, rolled oats, brown sugar, salt, nutmeg, flour and butter

Simple Ingredients

  • 6 medium ripe pears, peeled and sliced. I use bartlett pears here, but this would be wonderful with D’Anjou or Bosc pears too;)

For The Crisp Topping:

  • 3/4 cup oats, old fashioned rolls oats. I like to used the sprouted rolled oats they sell at Costco, but any old fashioned rolled oat will work!
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar. White sugar will work too, but you won’t get that caramelized flavor that brown sugar makes when combined with the butter.
  • 1/2 cup flour. All purpose flour and whole wheat flour will both work in this recipe.
  • 1/2 cup softened butter. If you don’t have butter, this is good made with coconut oil too;)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg, ground

For Serving:

  • Optional for serving: Caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream!
Peel & Slice Pears into buttered baking dish. Combine dry ingredients then cut butter into them till crumbly.

How To Make Pear Crisp

This easy pear crisp is super simple to make:

First preheat your oven to 350 degrees F., and move your oven rack to the top position.

Then wash, peel and slice your pears.

Butter an 8×8 pr 9×9 baking dish. You can also use a round stone wear baking pan, like I do here.

Place sliced pears into the buttered baking dish.

In a large mixing bowl combine the oats, flour, sugar, salt, and nutmeg. Whisk till dry ingredients are well combined.

Add the soft butter, and use a pastry blender, or your fingers, to work the softened butter into the oats mixture. Work the butt in till it resembles course crumbs or a dry, clumpy, cookie dough.

Sprinkle the oat mixture over top of the pears pears, and bake at 350 degrees F for 60 minutes till it’s golden brown on top.

Remove from the oven to a cooling rack. Le tit cool for 5-10 minutes.

Serve warm. Optionally, drizzle servings with caramel sauce and top with a scoop of vanilla ice cream!
